Amika is one of those haircare lines you likely see everywhere. They’re hard to miss with their bright and bold rainbow packaging, but they also have a product for seemingly every hair concern.

Amika has products for haircare and hair styling, including a number of hair styling tool. They’re also clean and cruelty-free, and their products all smell amazing. So many of their products have caught my eye over the past couple of years and I realize I’ve tried a lot of their line. In reviewing the products I’ve tried I realize there are so many more I’m interested in, but hopefully this is a good set of reviews to help you understand which products are worth it and which you can skip!

Amika Haircare Review

amika normcore review

Amika Normcore Shampoo + Conditioner

I’ve written a whole review about the Amika Normcore Shampoo and Conditioner, but while I waited until very recently to try one of Amika’s shampoos, I was really impressed! I have fine hair and worried this might be too moisturizing and leave my hair a little oilier than normal, but it cleaned my hair really effectively. It also smelled great. This is a pretty reasonable price for a premium shampoo and conditioner set and this is one I’d recommend for anyone with fine or medium hair.

amika instant flash hair mask

Amika Flash Instant Mask

I’m obsessed with gloss masks like these that promise quick results and lots of shine. I’ve tried maybe ten similar products and this one from Amika ranks near the middle. It does make my hair shinier and a bit softer, but the detangling and softness is not as extreme as it is with some other glosses and instant hair masks. This one works in only 60 seconds and comes out in a watery texture that can make it feel like you are going through the product very fast. Points for the amazing scent though.

amika the kure mask

Amika The Kure Intense Repair Mask

After trying the Soulfood mask from Amika, I had low hopes for their The Kure Intense Repair Mask, but this one has definitely made more of a difference on my hair. I leave this one on for ten minutes and my hair feels super silky and repaired. I like to apply this when my hair is feeling a little parched and dry and it feels like such a treat.

amika mousse

Amika Plus Size Volume & Body Mousse

Amika’s Plus Size Volume Mousse is one of my favorites! It’s very lightweight but still makes my hair incredible voluminous. It gives me very little crunch, especially when I use sparingly and right at the roots, When it comes to all of the mousses I’ve tried (which is getting to be a lot, I’ve got quite the mousse obsession) this one is right near the top!

amika soulfood mask review

Amika Soulfood Nourishing Hair Mask

This mask is…ok. It’s one of Amika’s OG hair masks. I don’t find it does anything super special, although I do feel I’ve come across a lot of great hair masks lately which may skew my opinion. On the plus side, it doesn’t weigh down my hair so I don’t hate it.

amika blockade serum

Amika Blockade Heat Defense Serum

Heat protectants are never the most exciting hair products to try, but I typically like to look for one that offers some extra benefits like increased shine or reduced frizz. This one claims to add softness and shine and I've found in using it that my hair does dry shinier and sleeker. It's a silky serum that feels really nice (and smells good) and keeps my hair looking healthy. It's one of my favorite heat protectants to use because of how easily spreadable it is throughout my hair and how it helps maintain my hair's health when styling.

amika dream routine mask

Amika Dream Routine Overnight Hydration Treatment

I find overnight hair masks to be really underrated in general for how much they can do to make hair feel sleek and silky. Especially if your are suffering from frizz or dry ends, they can go a long way to making your hair look and feel amazing when you wake up. I put this on occasionally when my hair is feeling really dry at night and it’s super soft in the morning when I wake up. It’s such a satisfying transition! I could see this product being a must-have for people who have really dry hair, and it doesn’t stain your pillow!

amika brooklyn bomshell

Amika Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray

I think if you’re using the Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout spray, it’s good to go in with the right expectations. It’s a volumizing product that you spray to your roots and all over your hair before blow drying. It is best for fine hair that is looking for natural volume. In that, I do think it delivers. If you would describe your hair as flat and lifeless, this can definitely give your hair a bit more fullness and volume. It doesn’t give my hair that kind of big volume that the Plus Size mousse would give you, but if gives hair a nice natural lift.

amika texturizing spray

Amika Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray

This is one of my favorite Amika products. When I spray this texturizing spray on my hair I expect it to feel weightless. It’s nearly invisible on my hair but still gives it hold and fun texture. I like to use after blowouts or curls to make my style last longer without making my hair feel crunchy the next day. 10/10 recommend.

Amika Haircare Review Conclusion

I’m a big fan of Amika, although I’ve definitely found a few products that I’m a little meh about. I’m interested to try some more of their haircare products including their 3d Shampoo and conditioner and leave-in conditioners. Amika is super popular for a reason though and I think it’s worth trying their products to see if they work well for your hair.
